What Size Flagpole And Flag Can I Install?
Don't Google your law! Many old city or county ordinances are still on Google restricting flag or flagpole size, but all of them have been made moot. NC House Bill 926 squashed this restriction imposed on NC residents and businesses by counties and municipalities by amending Section 17a of House Bill 926 to read:
"No city shall adopt or enforce an ordinance that prohibits or restricts, or has the effect of prohibiting or restricting, a property owner from displaying a flag of the United States of America or the State of North Carolina, including prohibiting or restricting the size of the flag or the height of any associated flagpole, on the property owner’s property.”
This is a very recent and welcome development coming out of the lawsuit brought against Pitt County by Camping World over the fines and fees imposed on Camping World for installing the large flagpole and flag over their Evans St. Location in Greenville, NC.
